Over 200 more films from horror legends Hammer are part of a new deal with StudioCanal.

StudioCanal has been busy over the past months with its programme of re-releases of classic and vintage films. The Third Man, Apocalypse Now – The Final Cut, Don’t Look Now and Kind Hearts & Coronets have been re-released in cinemas in the last four months alone. And on the disc side, the studio has 80s and 90s favourites such as Universal Soldier, Red Heat and Lock Up getting fresh release.

Now we hear that it’s signed a deal with Hammer Films, that means StudioCanal now has marketing and distribution rights across over 200 of the legendary horror studio’s movies. The firm has already released several Hammer films already, and given the new deal it’s struck, clearly has intentions to release many more.

No word yet on what re-releases are scheduled for when, but it’s refreshing to see a company so committed to catalogue titles, and treating them right too.

More as we hear it.
