The Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi may be set to helm the Disney Tower Of Tower film: more here.
Taika Waititi is currently working on Thor: Love And Thunder, his second film for Disney in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On top of that, the in-demand director has already announced that he will be making a movie for another of Disney’s ‘brands’, by hopping over to A Galaxy Far, Far Away to make a Star Wars film. Now, it seems that Disney are keen to extend Waititi’s tenure with the company even further, with the news that he could well be directing its Tower Of Terror movie.
Tower Of Terror is based on the famous Disney ride, with theme park attractions something that Disney continues to mine, following its billion-dollar success with the Pirate Of The Caribbean franchise. The most recent Disney movie to be based on a ride was this year’s Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. A sequel to that is now on the way.
If Waititi does take on the role of helming Tower Of Terror, it will reunite him with his Jojo Rabbit collaborator, Scarlett Johansson, although most likely in an offscreen capacity this time. The duo shared the screen in the 2019 comedy, which Waititi also directed. Johansson is on board to produce Tower Of Terror following the conclusion of her legal battle with Disney.
We’ll let you know when we hear more on this one.
