Ruth Wilson, Cush Jumbo and Rosamund Pike will lead a new film musical based around the songs of Take That.

It’s been rumoured for a very long time, but it’s finally going to happen: a film musical based around the songs of Take That is coming to the screen.

It’s being directed by Coky Giedroyc (who’s helmed the about to be released How To Build A GirlI), and Tim Firth (Calendar Girls and Kinky Boots) has penned the screenplay for the film. It’s going to be called Greatest Days, and is described as “is a feel-good universal story of love and friendship”.

What’s more, casting is underway on the project as well. We learn that Ruth Wilson, Cush Jumbo and Rosamund Pike are all in talks to take on roles in the movie. Expect more names to be added in due course.

Plotwise, the official announcement reveals that “the film focuses on five schoolgirls who have the night of their lives at a concert from their favourite boy band. 25 years later their lives have changed in a myriad of ways as they reunite to reminisce about their past and discover their future”.

The band Take That is involved too, as this is very much an official production.

No word yet on when filming will begin, but we’ll keep you posted. Got through the whole thing without a Take That gag, too. Magic.
