A terrific book about the big movies that never were is back on Kindle for the first time in ages – and on offer for 99p for the time being.

David Hughes’ excellent book, Tales From Development Hell, is an exploration of the big movies that never came to be. The second edition explores films such as Darren Aronofsky’s Batman movie, the reunion of Paul Verhoeven and Arnold Schwarzenegger with Crusades, and the plotted big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.

None of them ever happened, and Hughes details why that was in the case in his exhaustive, fascinating book. It’s also been a hard book to get hold of for a while, with the paperback long out of print.

Some very welcome news, then, with the discovery that the book is now available once again on Kindle, and for the princely sum of just 99p at the time of this story being written. Hopefully Hughes can be persuaded to pen a third edition of the book in the near future, but for now, you can order your copy of the existing version right here.
