The superb free-to-air movie lover’s TV channel Talking Pictures TV needs just a little extra support in these particularly challenging times.
The finest film channel on UK television is the wonderful Talking Pictures TV, an Aladdin’s cave of films, screening the kind of movies that nobody else does. The small team behind the channel is always on the lookout for movies to show, and you can get a sense as to just how exhaustive the work involved is in this feature we ran on the channel here.
The problem Talking Pictures TV currently faces – and it’s a family-run free to air TV channel – is that the advertising market as dried up in the current climate. It’s thus put out a request to help spread the word about its brilliant work, and if you could help do so too, that’d be wonderful.
As it’s written in its latest newsletter, “with the current situation we don’t have any advertisers. There are no cruises, no holidays, no products to advertise as all the warehouses are closed, so we are grateful for any adverts we can get at the moment. In these difficult times I thought I should make you aware of the situation as sadly we don’t get a license fee to help towards the costs. It’s more important now than ever that you go forth as Talking Pictures TV ambassadors and spread the word in any way you can”.
We’ve been in touch with Talking Pictures TV since we read that, and it’s not after crowdfunding or anything of that ilk. Rather, it just needs people to spread the work. And perhaps buy a DVD or two from its online collection, that you can find here: https://www.renownfilms.co.uk.
