The brilliant Talking Pictures TV is set to launch a catch-up service by the name of TPTV Encore – and it’s going to be absolutely free.
Good grief, this sounds wonderful. Many movie fans will already be aware of the delightful free-to-air channel Talking Pictures TV, that’s been bringing a genuine breadth of vintage cinema to our screens over the last few years. Its programming is a real labour of love, and the sheer number of films it’s sought out and broadcast puts many other movie channels to shame.
Now comes further news that Talking Pictures TV is launching its first ever online catch up service, and it’s quite the Christmas present. They’ve not paid us to say this to be clear, we’re just thrilled that so much cinema you can’t get anywhere else is about to be available on demand.
The service is called TPTV Encore, and will launch from December 1st 2021. On the service will be hundreds of hours of films and TV series from the Talking Picture TV archive. They’ll be available to watch uncensored and entirely free of charge. And, well, it sounds really quite brilliant to us.
If you’re unaware of the story behind Talking Pictures TV, we covered it here. Whereas many movie channels may have their roots in conglomerates and big corporate office blocks, it’d be fair to say Talking Pictures is very much the opposite of that!
When we get more news on TPTV Encore we’ll let you know. You can find the regular Talking Pictures TV on Sky, Freeview, Freesat and Virgin.
