The Saint Maud director Rose Glass is piecing together an intriguing ensemble for Love Lies Bleeding.
We’ve known for a couple of months now that Kristen Stewart will be leading the cast for Rose Glass’ next film, the follow-up her unforgettable 2019 debut, Saint Maud (pictured). The prospect of Glass and Stewart teaming up is already enticing, and now we have more casting announcements to further whet our anticipation.
Katy O’Brien is joining the thriller, starring opposite Stewart in a significant step up for the actor in terms of career visibility. O’Brian may be a familiar face to you, having appeared in consecutive episodes of shows like The Mandalorian and Black Lightning, but she has thus far largely only played smaller parts. Her larger role in Love Lies Bleeding represents a significant breakthrough moment for the actor, who alongside Stewart will be joined by some other notable names.
Ed Harris, Jena Malone and Dave Franco have also joined the cast for the film, rounding out a strong ensemble. Considering the names involved here, there’s a real pedigree in the thriller genre and if Glass’ debut film is anything to go by, we can expect the film to take us into some strange and gripping places.
Slated as a romantic thriller, Glass has co-penned the screenplay with Weronika Tofilska. Film 4 has developed the film in league with A24, and the story is said to be ‘fuelled by ego, desire and the American dream’. We’re certainly on board and expect to see the film sometime next year.
