The knock-on as assorted blockbusters stop filming is clearly set to extend to next year’s blockbusters too.

The inevitable knock-on for next year’s movie releases is started to bite, in the midst of these pretty testing times. Obviously, with cinemas shut down for the foreseeable future, many of this year’s big movies have now been delayed. However, productions that were filming for release next year are now being affected too, as the timescales to complete some of the movies becomes too tight.

On that list? The pair of Warner Bros films The Batman and The Matrix 4, which are now set to miss their summer 2021 releases. This hasn’t been officially announced as of yet, but seems pretty inevitable. Both had started production, but have a lot of work ahead of them.

They’re not alone, either. Further films set to be affected are Mission: Impossible 7 and Sony’s Uncharted film (the latter of which was due to start filming in March).

Currently, the hope in Hollywood is to get lots of these films back up and running in May, but that feels on the hopeful side.

Whatever state the release slate is in for the next 18 months, basically, expect lots of shuffling to take place, even once things start to settle a little.

We’ll keep you posted…
