Did somebody stand in front of their bathroom mirror and say “Candyman documentary” five times? Because here it is.

2021 will definitely be the year of the Candyman, it seems, with news that a feature-length documentary will be released charting the history of the horror franchise. As you’re most likely aware, this year will also see the release of the oft-delayed ‘reimagining’ of the franchise, directed by Nia DaCosta and co-written by Jordan Peele.

The original Candyman, featuring Virginia Madsen and Tony Todd, remains a 90s horror classic, dealing with themes of urban legends, race and class. There were also a couple of less fondly-remembered sequels too, that the documentary looks set to explore as well as a look at the upcoming film.

There’s a trailer to check out below, but if the Candyman films are dear to your heart, then this could be the perfect appetiser ahead of DaCosta’s new Candyman which is set to arrive in August (after three delays).

The Complete History Of Candyman will be available on VoD this spring, with no exact date set yet. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
