Chris Pine stars in the new trailer for action-thriller The Contractor, where he plays an ex-special forces operative who gets caught up in a conspiracy.

Paramount has released a trailer for upcoming action-thriller The Contractor. Starring Chris Pine and directed by Tarik Saleh, it tells the tale of ex-special forces operative James Harper (Pine) who is involuntarily discharged from the military. He then contracts with an underground military operation, but soon becomes entangled in a dangerous conspiracy that threatens his life.

The Contractor is Swedish director Saleh’s first English-language feature film. He has previously directed on HBO series Westworld. The action-thriller also stars Kiefer Sutherland, who’s no stranger to being at the centre of the action – he played protagonist Jack Bauer in the long-running Fox show 24. Also in the film is Hell Or High Water actor Ben Foster, Community's Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, JD Pardo, and Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings's Florian Munteanu.

Chris Pine is serving as executive producer on the project, as well as starring. This is his first feature film since 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984, where he reprised the role of Steve Trevor. He is also reportedly in talks with Paramount to return as Captain James Kirk in a fourth Star Trek film.

The Contractor is set for a US cinema and digital release on 1st April, with a UK date not specified yet. More news as we hear it.
