The Expendables 4 is happening, and the gang’s (nearly) all back

Most of The Expendables – and a few new ones – are loading back up for The Expendables 4, it’s been revealed.

We ran a story a week or so back that Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone were set to start filming a new movie in The Expendables franchise. The first film in the series since 2014’s PG-13-rated The Expendables 3, that people don’t tend to talk about anymore.

The assumption was that this would be the mooted Jason Statham-headlined spin-off movie. But apparently not: the gang is coming back together – well, most of them – and we’re getting something akin to a full-on The Expendables 4.

There have been a few changes in the ensemble, but confirmed already for the new film are Stallone, The Statham, Randy Couture, 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa. This time, the director’s chair has been handed over to Scott Waugh, who previously helmed the Need For Speed movie. He’ll be working from a screenplay that’s been written by Spenser Cohen.

No idea of the plot at this stage, but not that that tends to matter too much where Expendables movies are concerned. It’s action stars doing action-y things. By the sounds of it, The Expendables 4 – which it probably won’t be called – will be due in 2022.
