The Expendables 4 is still an active project

Randy Couture gives an update on the next Expendables film.

Things had seemed to have stalled in the world of The Expendables. The first movie was a huge hit, the second did well, the third went down – nnnghhhh – PG-13 road, and the planned female-led spin-off, The Expendabelles (really) seemed to die in development hell. Plans for a TV show also appear to have petered out.

But there still remain plans for a fourth film, and the idea had been to move the onus from Sylvester Stallone’s character more towards Jason Statham’s. Still, one member of the ensemble who is gunning for a bit more screen time too is Randy Couture, and in an interview with The Action Elite, he’s confirmed that the project is still very much an active one.

“It’s a thing!”, he said. “I got a script last year and really enjoyed reading it. It was very well done but where we are on the production scale and getting it moving I’m not sure. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes with the producer to make a film that big so I’m hoping this spring we get the greenlight but I’m not hearing anything definitive right now”.

No word yet on who’s going to direct the next chapter in the franchise, nor which action stars are being lined up to star in it. But we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
