The Eyes Of Tammy Faye first trailer released

The first trailer for The Eyes Of Tammy Faye, starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield, has been released.

After first look images were released to People magazine last week of Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye, audiences have been eagerly awaiting a better look at the film itself, based on the true story of Tammy Faye and her then husband Jim Bakker who developed The PTL Club, a televangelist program in the 70s. The film is set to chronicle the beginning of their relationship through to their eventual downfall in the late 80s.

Tammy Faye was known for her eccentricities and different views that didn’t always go with the views of other Evangelists, as well as an over the top glamourous persona, which Chastain seems to have thrown herself in to, looking almost unrecognisable at points in the trailer. It looks set to be an odd film but both Chastain and Garfield are known for their commitment to roles and we know Hollywood loves a true story that involves facial prosthetics.

The film has been written by Abe Sylvia (Dirty Girl) and directed by Michael Showalter (The Lovebirds). The pair have also worked heavily in TV, making them uniquely suited for the task of adapting the life of a TV personality.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think, intriguing or uncomfortable?

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye is set to release on the 17th September in the States, with a suggested September released in the UK, but expect that to likely move.
