Work is underway putting together a new British movie, that’s going to have notable roles for performers over 60 in it.

Writer and producer Dougie Brimson recently announced the formation of his new production company Red Bus Movies. One month later comes news of the firm’s first movie.

It’s set to be a slapstick comedy by the name of The Gentle Sex. Brimson (Green Street) has penned the screenplay for the movie along with Gary Lawrence. It tells the story of four retired secret agents, who are forced to defend their retirement from an unscrupulous property developer.

Brimson and Lawrence were also motivated to get this one going was a conversation they had. “What really kicked it into gear was a discussion with a famous TV actress who, having hit 60, was essentially sitting at home simply because no one was writing roles for women of her age”, explains the official announcement.

“It seemed crazy to us that all this incredible British talent was going to waste and so we thought that if no one else was writing suitable roles for them, we should”.

Hence, they’ve fashioned what they describe as “an old folks version of Home Alone”, and financing for the project is underway. Red Bus is also after a co-producer to help with the movie – best way to get in touch is via email, at dougiebrimson at me dot com.
