The Good Liar: new promo for Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren movie lands

The Good Liar pairs Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren – and it promises to be a fascinating thriller.

Bill Condon was originally set to follow up his big budget live action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with a remake of Bride Of Frankenstein. That was to be a project for Universal’s ‘Dark Universe’ of horror remakes, an enterprise that fell apart when The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, proved to be on the underwhelming side.

In the fallout from that, the Dark Universe went into hibernation, and eventually, Condon went off to make another project. Which is what brings us here today.

The film in question is the thriller The Good Liar, based on the novel by Nicholas Searle. Sir Ian McKellen stars in the film as an old con by the name of Roy, who has in his sights a seemingly well off widow by the name of Betty. Betty is played by Dame Helen Mirren, and the pair come together for what promises to be a twisty thriller and a half.

Here’s the new promo that’s just landed…
