If you’re a fan of the festive favourite The Holiday, then there’s a podcast that might just be up your street – details here.
Podcast host Sam Clements (90 Minutes Or Less Film Fest) is back with new episodes of his festive show, The Holiday Season. The podcast series is dedicated to Nancy Meyers’ festive romcom The Holiday, starring Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black.
Sam loves this film. He’s watched it every year since it was originally released in 2006. The film was a moderate success in cinemas at the time, but didn’t reach the highs of Meyers’ previous box office smashing films Something’s Gotta Give and What Women Want. It has now earned itself a huge fan base through regular seasonal TV broadcasts and easy access on modern day streaming services.
The Holiday is now scheduled alongside longtime Christmas classics It’s A Wonderful Life and Die Hard – and it feels right at home.
Realising that he’d now seen the film more times than he can remember, Sam was keen to learn more about his go to Christmas movie, and the idea for The Holiday Season podcast was born.
On each episode Sam takes a look at one element of the filmmaking process, through the delightful prism of The Holiday. Currently, Sam has covered  Nancy Meyers’ legacy as a filmmaker, looking at her 40 year long Hollywood career and becoming the highest grossing female director in the world, before moving onto the screenplay for The Holiday in episode 2, then takes a deep dive look at the ‘reality’ of the movie in episode 3.
Sam is joined by a number of guests along the way, from notable fans, to members of the cast and crew – aka the heroes – who actually worked on the film. Over the coming weeks, Sam will visit the UK location used in The Holiday, talking to location manager Benjamin Greenacre. He will also catch up with acclaimed costume designer Marlene Stewart, who worked on the film.
The Holiday might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s a comfortable watch, the cinematic equivalent to curling up under a duvet with a warm mug of hot chocolate. Basically the perfect remedy for 2020!

Give yourself a treat, watch the film and then find The Holiday Season on your podcatcher of choice. If you like what you hear, please do tell your friends and leave a rating on Apple Podcasts.
