Noah Centineo is no longer set to play He-Man in the new Masters Of The Universe movie, in a blow to the project.

The planned movie reboot of Masters Of The Universe looked like it was stepping forward when it was revealed that Netflix had picked up the project from Sony Pictures. Sony had been umming and aahing over it for quite a while, yet the Netflix chequebook is infamously a little freer. Whether that deal was ultimately concluded remains to be seen, but there’s another deal that wasn’t.

For a good year or two now, one of the key parts of the project was Noah Centineo, who had been expected to take on the lead role of Prince Adam/He-Man. However, in a blow to the project, it now turns out that he’s no longer involved with the film, and the casting search has to begin again.

Aaron and Adam Nee are still set to write and direct the film at least, but it’s a blow to the project that was set to go into production this year. And it still might, but the search is now on for a new He-Man to take on the lead.

As we hear more, we’ll let you know. But this is one of those films that already feels like it’s been in development hell for a long time, and it’s not showing many signs of escaping just yet.
