The new reboot of Candyman has started filming – details here.

Appreciating the argument that Candyman is a film that wasn’t crying out for a reboot/remake, this is the world of horror cinema, and it’s an argument long lost.

That said, the new Candyman – based once more on the work of British author Clive Barker – has promise. Jordan Peele has penned the screenplay for it along with Win Rosenfeld, and it’s being directed by Nia DaCosta.

The film is being described as a ‘spiritual sequel’ to the original film, and the cast is let by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Colman Domingo. Filming has just got underway in and around the Chicago area of the States.

The film has been earmarked for release on June 12th 2020, with Universal Pictures distributing the new movie. More news on it as we get it.
