Rosario Dawson leads the new Haunted Mansion movie, and Disney will be bringing it to cinemas in March of next year: more details here.

Disney didn’t have an awful lot of luck the first time it opted to try and bring its theme park attraction Haunted Mansion to the big screen. That was back in 2003, with Eddie Murphy in the lead role, and let’s just say that sequels were not forthcoming.

No matter: 20 years on, it’s going to have another go.

This time, it’s been plotting a new version that stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson and Danny DeVito.

Justin Simien is directing this time, with D V DeVincentis on screenplay duties. The film was developed for a while as a possible project for Guillermo del Toro, although how much of his take on the film remains is unclear.

What’s more clear is the release date. Disney is putting this one in cinemas, it’s been confirmed, and will be releasing it on March 10th 2023 in the US. A similar date is expected for the UK, which is the week before Warner Bros’ Wonka movie lands.

More on both films as we hear it.
