Minions: The Rise Of Gru loses its summer release slot.

Whilst lots of movies are shifting release date at the moment in response to the fact that cinemas aren’t going to be open anytime soon, Universal and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions: The Rise Of Gru has now vacated its July release date for a different reason.

The film is being made at Illuminations’ French base, and in line with guidelines issued by the French government, its premises have been shut down. As a consequence, this isn’t the kind of project where working from home can keep it progressing at the required speed, and the movie has now been delayed. Simply because, in this case, Illumination is no longer able to physically get it finished in time.

A new release date for the sequel will be announced in due course.
