In spite of the fact that the original is under 20 years old, it looks as though The Others is now getting a movie remake.

Following around two years after the huge success of The Sixth Sense was another spooky Hollywood hit, the terrific The Others.

The film starred Nicole Kidman in the lead role, and was directed by Alejandro Amenabar. And it was a period film that told the story of a women living in an old family home with her two children, who begins to suspect that said house might be haunted. We’re not going to spoil the film here, rather will say that it’s an incredibly tense and well made piece of cinema.

And now it’s getting the remake treatment.

The rights to the movie have been snapped up by a company called Sentient Entertainment, and it’s now looking to make a modern-day remake of the film, set in the present. No word yet on who’ll appear in the new version or direct it, just that there’s already ‘significant interest from A-list talent and studio backers’.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more. The movie remake clock has now moved into the 2000s…

Deadline.
