The new Home Alone movie is set to start filming in early 2020.

It’s been a month or two now since it was revealed that one of the Fox properties that new owners Disney was looking to bring back to life was the Home Alone series. That the studio is planning a reboot of the franchise, for its Disney+ streaming service.

The news didn’t go down particularly well, in truth, but that’s not deterring anyone. And a few more details about the project have come to light.

Dan Mazer is currently in talks to direct the film, with his previous credits including Dirty Grandpa and I Give It A Year.

The script meanwhile is the work of Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, and the plot will see a married couple seeking to do battle with a young boy who this time has stolen something from them. Thus, a kind of inverse of the original movie.

Filming is due to begin in early 2020, which suggests that the new Home Alone could make it to Disney+ by the end of next year. No word yet on casting as of yet, though.
