The Purge 5 lands next July, and the Will Patton has been joined by Cassidy Freeman in the cast.

It’s the low budget franchise that keeps on coming. The fundamental idea at the heart of The Purge films – a 12 hour window every year where crime is made legal – is an intriguing one. That said, it feels like on the second film really got to grips with that and took real advantage of the premise. Still, there are ideas of promise bubbling around in even the weaker Purge films, and given how profitable they are, it’s little surprise that more of them come coming.

Next up is the currently untitled The Purge 5, that’s currently filming, presumably for release next summer (10th July is pencilled in).

Evarardo Gout is directing this one, from a script by series creator James DeMonaco. And we learn that the cast has been bolstered by the addition of Cassidy Freeman, who will be joining an ensemble that also includes Will Patton, Tenoch Huerta and Ana de la Reguera.

Expect the official title reveal to come with a trailer. At a push, we may get that this side of Christmas. More, as always, as we hear it.
