The Shows Must Go On: free musicals on YouTube return

A full live film version of the stage musical take on Fame will be streaming for free this weekend for 48 hours – more details here.

Back in March, when the UK first went into lockdown, Lord Baron Andrew Lloyd Webber joined forces with Universal to launch a special YouTube channel. Entitled The Shows Must Go On, each Friday it made available for free a full length musical production. Then, you’d have the weekend to watch it before it was taken down again. Another show would follow the subsequent Friday.

The shows came to an end in July, with the promise of them returning later in the summer. And whilst they might have cut the deadline a little close, this Friday, The Shows Must Go On returns.

The new season of productions kicks off with Fame!, a recorded version of the stage musical take on the 1980 film. That’ll go live from 7pm on Friday here, and will then be available for 48 hours to watch for free.

The theme of the next batch of shows has been announced as ‘Greats On Tour’, and over the coming weeks we’re getting tour recordings of Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, as well as a stage version of Jeff Waynes’ War Of The Worlds.

We’ll keep you updated with more announcements as we get them.
