The weekly programme of free streaming musicals is set to give an encore performance for The Sound Of Music this coming Friday.
The weekly programme of music productions heading to YouTube is continuing, even as lockdown around the world starts to lighten. This is under The Shows Must Go On banner, a YouTube channel launched by Andrew Lloyd Webber and taken on by Universal, whereby every Friday a full musical production is released for streaming for free.
The identity of Friday’s show has now been announced, and as you can probably tell from the headline to this article, it’s going to be a production of The Sound Of Music.
Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer headline the production, and it’s the second outing for the show. It first screened on The Shows Must Go On channel back in May.
It’ll return to the YouTube channel – that you can find the link to here – from Friday at 7pm. You’ll then have 48 hours to watch for free, before it’s taken down again.
We’ll leave you with the official synopsis for the production…
Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer star as Maria and Captain von Trapp in this beloved story of the young novice who falls in love with Captain von Trapp and his seven children, set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Austria. The jewel in the Rodgers & Hammerstein crown, THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE! contains some of the most famous songs ever written for the stage, including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” and “Edelweiss.” This version of The Sound of Music has been faithfully adapted from the original stage musical to retell the story for a whole new generation.
