This week’s free musical production on YouTube is a recording of the big budget musical, From Here To Eternity – details here.

If you’ve not come across The Shows Must Go On before, the YouTube channel launched way back in the spring when the UK first went into lockdown. As a response to theatres closing their doors, the idea was that every weekend, a musical production would stream on the channel for you.

Which is just how it’s panned out. And from this Friday, a production from Sir Tim Rice will be streaming for free.

It’s his take on From Here To Eternity, and a recorded version of the musical will be live on YouTube from 7pm on Friday. The synopsis for the show reads as follows…

Pearl Harbor, 1941, where the girls sing “don’cha like Hawaii”, the men of G Company sing the blues, and where even on an army base, love and desire are never very far away. Sir Tim Rice’s epic new musical is adapted from one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century; a gripping tale of illicit love and army life which translates into a breath-taking, romantic and excitingly original show.

You’ll be able to see the show in the window below, or you can click through to see it directly on YouTube. The show will be available for 48 hours, and thus you have until Sunday afternoon to watch it.
