Joanna Hogg’s continuation of the hugely-acclaimed The Souvenir has a trailer, and a confirmed February 2022 UK release date.

One of the most acclaimed British films of recent years has been Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir, a feature she wrote and directed, with Honor Swinton Byrne in the lead role. Hogg revealed around the time of its release that she had a second chapter in mind, and indeed it screened at the London Film Festival back in the autumn.

Now we learn that it has a confirmed wider UK release from Picturehouse Entertainment on February 4th 2022, and a new UK trailer has been released as well. Seems about right then that we get on with the job of showing you what’s what.

Here’s the trailer…

And here’s the synopsis…

In the aftermath of her tumultuous relationship with a charismatic and manipulative older man, Julie (Honor Swinton Byrne) begins to untangle her fraught love for him in making her graduation film, sorting fact from his elaborately constructed fiction. Joanna Hogg’s shimmering story of first love and a young woman’s formative years, The Souvenir Part II is a portrait of the artist that transcends the halting particulars of everyday life – a singular, alchemic mix of memoir and fantasy. With an outstanding cast that also includes Richard Ayoade, Charlie Heaton, Joe Alwyn and Tilda Swinton, the critically acclaimed sequel to The Souvenir is a truly unmissable cinematic event.
