An update on the Taron Egerton-headlined Tetris movie – feel free to add your own gag about pieces sliding into place etc.

Now in production is the story behind the iconic videogame Tetris. It’s going by the name of Falling Blocks and will star Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers, in a movie that tells the tale behind the legal battle over the game itself.

Tetris was the work of Russian gamemaker Alexey Pajitnov, and the legal fight over it involved some of the biggest names of the time in gaming.

Jon S Baird is directing the movie, and Matthew Vaughn is producing. What’s more, Scotland is going to be doubling up for Russia in the film.

The shoot is currently taking place in Glasgow, and the plan will be to move to Aberdeen by the end of the month. Rather than heading to Russia to get footage of the 80s Soviet Union, Scotland will be doing the job for the filmmakers.

No word on a release date as of yet, but hopefully we might get to see this one before the year is out. More as we hear it.
