Universal Pictures is pressing ahead with The Green Hornet And Kato, nearly a decade after the last Green Hornet film arrived in cinemas.

Back in 2011, the last big screen take on Green Hornet was released, with Seth Rogen in the lead role and Jay Chou in the role of Kato. Rogen had penned the script with Evan Goldberg, Michel Gondry directed the feature, and the end result was decent, but not quite what all hoped for.

The story of the film is one we’ve explored in a podcast, here.

Now, a different studio is stepping up to bring a new take on the Green Hornet to the screen.

Universal this time is pressing ahead with The Green Hornet And Kato, that’s being produced by Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo. Whether the new movie will dig more into the original 1930s radio show, the 1940s movie serials or the 1960s TV show (that starred Bruce Lee) remains to be seen.

We also await news of which personnel will be attached to the project: there are no known writers or director currently involved, or if they are, they’re not telling us. More as we hear it.
