Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne will direct and produce their next feature Time And Space – Judd Apatow will also produce.

Newbie filmmakers Tig Notaro (pictured) and Stephanie Allynne have already lined up their next feature film – Time And Space. The couple made their directorial debut with Am I OK?, which is premiering today at the virtual Sundance Film Festival. The two have clearly decided to continue directing together, and will also produce the upcoming feature through their company, Something Fierce. Judd Apatow, who most recently directed The King Of Staten Island, will also produce.

Deadline reveals that the film is inspired by Notaro and Allynne’s own experiences during the pandemic. The married couple were set to move from Los Angeles to upstate New York with their young twin boys, but this fell through because of Covid. Time And Space tells an almost identical story about a lesbian couple who do move to upstate New York, and the decision causes turmoil. The film is a continuation of the themes present in Am I OK? – the duo seem to like making stories with widespread appeal, but which feature LGBT+ characters and themes.

Stephanie Allynne is writing the screenplay as well as co-directing, and Notaro is set to star in the film. The two are very much used to working with each other – their production company is working with Netflix on several projects. This includes political comedy First Ladies, which Emmy nominee and comedian Notaro is co-writing with Allynne.

Both directors also have various acting credits. Notaro is a well-known stand-up comedian, and is currently on a 50-city tour. She has appeared in film and TV, including Star Trek: Discovery and Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead. Allynne has acted in the 2017 series of Twin Peaks and Pacific Rim: Uprising.
