The recent military evacuation of Afghanistan will form the background for an upcoming Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum movie.

Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum are to feature onscreen together in an as-yet untitled film, set against the backdrop of the recent military evacuation of Afghanistan. The project has been put together at Universal and will be directed by The Adjustment Bureau’s George Nolfi.

According to Deadline, the plot ‘is based on recently reported true stories, this one focusing on three former special forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts, to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of Afghanistan last August.’

Hardy has just wrapped production on Havoc, the new film from The Raid director, Gareth Evans, whilst Tatum will next be appearing in Dog, which he co-directed, as well as starring opposite Sandra Bullock in The Lost City.

We’ll let you know more about this project, including the title, as we hear it.
