Trailer: Anthony Hopkins in The Virtuoso

The assassination thriller The Virtuoso lands on PVoD at the end of this month, but you can catch your first glimpse here.

As his most recent Oscar nomination for The Father (his sixth in fact) can attest to, as an actor there are many things that Anthony Hopkins does incredibly well. One of them is certainly playing the creepy, cryptic mentor role, which he did so memorable in 1990’s The Silence of the Lambs (for which he won an Oscar of course). It’s a role that Hopkins has been drawn back to several times throughout the years and a part he’s returned to once again for The Virtuoso, an upcoming neo-noir thriller about a hitman, played by Anson Mount, who develops a conscience.

Hopkins plays the assassin’s handler, who seems to be aiming to pull him back into line, although the trailer promises twists and turns with each of the characters seemingly harbouring their own agendas. One thing is certain: it’s great to see Hopkins still alternating ‘worthy’ dramas like The Father with the pulpier thrills of films like The Virtuoso.

The film is set to land at the end of April on PVoD and also features Abbie Cornish, Eddie Marsan, David Morse, Richard Brake and Diora Baird.

You can catch the trailer below, ahead of its planned release.
