Aubrey Plaza and Michael Caine join forces for a terrific-looking comedy drama – here’s the Best Sellers trailer.
Only yesterday we covered the story regarding Aubrey Plaza’s next film, a project which will go by the intriguing name of Emily The Criminal. One project of Plaza’s that has been in the can for a while is Best Sellers, an indie comedy drama that will see Plaza star opposite none other than Sir Michael Caine, an on-screen pairing that we can’t wait to see.
Best Sellers completed filming all the way back in 2019 but has been held back by its US distributor Screen Media, whilst uncertainty over the pandemic has raged. The plot for the film sounds brilliant: Caine’s ‘cranky, retired author reluctantly embarks on a final book tour to help out a young publisher’, played by Plaza, who, in equally reluctant fashion, is trying to save her father’s business.
We have a release date, albeit a US one, of September 17th, so fingers crossed, we should see it surface here in the UK around the same time, hopefully with a theatrical release too. The idea of a moody Caine trading barbs with an equally sulky Plaza has our imagination firing already. We’ll let you know UK release details as we hear them.
