From producer Michael Bay and director Adam Mason comes Songbird, a movie that was shot whilst Los Angeles was in lockdown – here’s the trailer.

A trailer has landed for Songbird, a near-future pandemic thriller that not only takes inspiration from the current spate of lockdowns that the world is experiencing, it actually uses them within the film.

The film, which is directed by Adam Mason and produced by Michael Bay, was shot using social distancing techniques whilst LA has been in lockdown, resulting in some haunting but spectacular-looking visuals of the empty city.

Set in the near future, Songbird charts the fortunes of a young couple trying to reach one another during a 213-week lockdown imposed in response to a deadly outbreak of Covid-23. It has quite the cast too: KJ Apa and Sofia Carson star, with Bradley Whitford, Demi Moore, Peter Stormare, Alexandra Daddario, Craig Robinson and Paul Walter Hauser.

There’s no explosions in the trailer either or any of the usual Bay highlights, so here’s hoping that his  presence as producer is light-touch throughout the entire film, which looks like it could be terrific.

Songbird is currently in post-production and no release date has been set yet. Here’s the trailer though…
