The much-loved Terry Pratchett novel The Amazing Maurice is coming to both Sky and cinemas with Hugh Laurie voicing the mighty Maurice.

Sky Cinema has launched the trailer for The Amazing Maurice, the film adaptation of the popular Terry Pratchett book. As well as featuring the talents of Hugh Laurie as the titular Maurice, Emilia Clarke, Hugh Bonneville and David Tennant will all feature too.

The synopsis for the film reads as such: ‘The Amazing Maurice, a Sky Original, Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm called Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain.’

The film is set to release in December of this year, with a dual release in cinemas and on Sky Cinema seeming to be the plan.

Pratchett adaptations, whilst beloved, haven’t always fully appeased fans of the late author’s work but we’re hoping that The Amazing Maurice will be a wonderful Christmas treat when it finally arrives. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
