Trailer drops for new live action Tom & Jerry film

The forthcoming return to the big screen for the iconic double act Tom & Jerry now has a trailer, although no mention of a firm release date as yet.

A trailer has landed for Warner Bros’ upcoming Tom & Jerry, the first theatrical release starring the ever-warring cat and mouse duo for over 30 years. Updated from the classic cartoon series of the same name, the film finds the pair living – along with other cartoon creations – in a live-action world. It all sounds in a similar fashion to the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The film’s titular stars are voiced by veteran voice actor Frank Welker. Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena and Ken Jeong all star in live action roles too.

The film is set to open next year, you can get a peek at the movie in the trailer below. The action takes place in a posh New York hotel against the backdrop of a fancy wedding when Grace Moretz is tasked with dealing with a ‘mouse problem’. The film has been in development for over a decade, following its greenlight in the wake of the success of 2007’s Alvin & The Chipmunks. It languished in development hell for a good while but finally, it’s about to make its bow.

Titled as Tom & Jerry: The Movie internationally, you can expect to see it in March, although the release date has bounced back and forth a couple of times already, so you never know. In the meantime, here’s the trailer…
