The grand tradition of the stuntwoman is explored in an upcoming feature documentary, featuring moments from classic action franchises.

Stuntwomen have been around Hollywood, pretty much since the beginning of the industry. Perhaps because of the fact that action movies have, for much of that time, centred around men, they haven’t always enjoyed the same profile as their male counterparts.

An upcoming documentary, Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story is aiming to change all that, and has just released a trailer to build anticipation for its release on digital platforms, on September 22nd.

The film is directed by April Wright, a documentary filmmaker who has previously explored other elements of the business such as drive-ins and cinemas. Michelle Rodriguez, no slouch herself in the action department, narrates, and the film also follows her on set to chart the everyday life of a female action star.

Also featuring stuntwomen analysing, performing and discussing stunts from the dawn of Hollywood through to the John Wick, Charlie’s Angels and Fast & Furious films, it’s a promising title to look forward to if you’re a fan of action cinema.

The trailer, which is well worth a watch, can be seen here…
