Embattled tells the story of a father and son sorting out their differences, with the help of a bit of MMA – here’s the trailer and more details.

Cage fighting has been around since the early 1990s and has only really entered the mainstream in the last decade or so. As such, compared to a combat sport like boxing which has been around for a century, the sport is still growing. This is most likely the reason why, despite having numerous ‘definitive’ boxing movies to hold up, there’s yet to be an MMA film that could be considered seminal, despite there being some good contenders (Warrior springing to mind).

This November, another entrant joins the fray in the form of Embattled. Following the story of a father and son, both of whom are competitors in the sport, Embattled charts the slow erosion of their relationship before ultimately, they elect to settle things in the cage.

The film stars Stephen Dorff and Darren Mann. It’s written by Darren Mckenna, the scribe behind American History X and directed by Nick Sarkisov.

Embattled is headed to cinemas and VoD in November in the US, courtesy of IFC films. No word yet on a UK release date but we will keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
