Get your first glimpse of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac story, featuring Peter Dinklage as the romantic hero.

MGM has launched the trailer for Cyrano, the film adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s famous Cyrano de Bergerac story about a romantic hero, 17th-century writer and libertine. The story, which was previously adapted in 1990 featuring Gérard Depardieu (and Steve Martin starred in the delightful 80s hit Roxanne too), follows the ‘young Cyrano, who falls in love with the beautiful noblewoman Roxanne but fears rejection due to his short stature.’

The original story and 1990 adaptation saw the hero sporting an extra-large nose, but this version instead sees the title character being of short stature instead.

Dinklage and co-star Haley Bennett reprise their roles from the successful stage production, whilst Brian Tyree Henry, Ben Mendelsohn and Kelvin Harrison Jr.  also feature.

Joe Wright directs the film, which was shot in Sicily at the back end of 2020. The film is set to hit UK cinemas on January 14th, 2022, but until then, feast your eyes on the trailer below.
