The trailer has arrived for Timur Bekmambetov’s new thriller Profile about jihadi recruitment, using the popular ‘screenlife’ format.

If you’re a fan of 2018’s Searching then you may want to check out the trailer for Profile, an upcoming thriller from Timur Bekmambetov that uses the same screen-based approach as the 2018 film, as well as others like Dark Web: Unfriended.

Profile is in the same ‘screenlife’ genre but focuses instead on an investigation into  ‘the recruitment of young European women by the ISIS’. The synopsis continues: ‘Journalist Amy Whittaker creates a new Facebook profile under the alias of Melody Nelson. She creates a persona online of a woman who has recently converted to Islam. Soon Amy is contacted by Bilel, an ISIS fighter from Syria. They begin to talk to each other regularly and after some time she begins to develop real romantic feelings for him.’

The film is a UK/US/Russian/Cypriot co-production and first premiered in February at the Berlin Film Festival.

Profile has a May 14th release date scheduled in the US although no UK date has been confirmed as yet.
