Trailer: Mahershala Ali in dystopian drama Swan Song

Dystopian drama Swan Song stars Mahershala Ali, and is heading our way shortly: here’s the trailer for the film.

Some seriously stacked talent are bringing the drama Swan Song to the screen for Apple TV+ (and cinemas too, in the US at least). Looking like a concept that could have hopped straight out of a Black Mirror episode, the film is set to tangle with that knotty philosophical conundrum about what comprises the self. It stars Mahershala Ali as a dying man given the chance to clone himself, so that a doppelganger of sorts can slot into his life. All leaving his young family with a perfect carbon copy of him after his demise.

Naturally, the film looks like it will pose all manner of thorny ethical and emotional questions, plus you get twice the Mahershala Ali for your money, so we’re doubly game for this one, especially considering the rest of the creative team behind it. That team includes Academy Award winning director Benjamin Cleary (Stutterer) and a cast comprising of Oscar nominees Glenn Close and Naomie Harris, along with  Awkwafina and Adam Beach.

The film is getting some kind of theatrical release as well as an Apple TV+ launch in the US, and we can only hope that we get the same release strategy here. Swan Song will arrive on December 17th. Check out the trailer below.
