I Love My Dad explores the dangers of the internet and communication in the modern world: here’s the trailer.

Parents struggling to connect with their children is a classic film convention. From Transamerica to Beautiful Boy, there are endless avenues for filmmakers to find new stories to tell.

I Love My Dad takes things into the digital age. The official synopsis reads as follows:

Chuck is a hopelessly estranged father who desperately wants to reconnect with his troubled son, Franklin. Blocked on social media and concerned for his son’s life, Chuck impersonates a waitress online and starts checking in with Franklin. But things begin to spiral when Franklin falls for this imaginary girl and wants nothing more than to meet her in person, as Chuck has inadvertently catfished his own son. A thrilling comedy with an unexpected twist.

As well as writing and directing, James Morosini also stars in the film as Franklin alongside Patton Oswalt as Chuck. Rounding out the ensemble are Claudia Sulewski, Lil Rel Howery, Rachel Dratch, Amy Landecker, and Ricky Velez.

The film is set to be released on demand on the 12th August. Watch the trailer below:
