Usual Suspects star Gabriel Byrne headlines the western Murder At Yellowstone City: here’s the trailer.

The Western, it seems, is one of the few genres that can regularly take risks whilst still retaining the genre tropes that make them what they are. From 2006’s pioneering Brokeback Mountain to 2011’s Cowboys Vs Aliens, a myriad of filmmakers have put their own unique stamp on the genre.

Now, director Richard Gray is mixing the Wild West with murder mystery. More Guns Out than Knives Out, Murder at Yellowstone City stars Byrne as a bigoted sheriff, who imprisons a black man after the murder of a local prospector. However, as more murders occur it soon transpires that everybody in the town has something to hide.

Staring alongside Byrne is Richard Dreyfuss, Thomas Jane, Isiah Mustafa, Anna Camp, Aimee Garcia, Emma Kenney and Nat Wolff. The script for this one has been penned by Eric Balgau, who previously worked with Gray on Robert the Bruce and wrote the 2005 noir Murder on the Yellow Brick Road.

The film is due to be released in cinemas and on demand on 24th June. Watch the trailer below.
