The adaptation of the bestselling book The Good House portrays an introspective journey of self discovery: here’s the first trailer.

The Good House, written by Ann Leary and published in 2013, became a New York Times bestseller. It’s taken a few years, but now the film adaptation is here.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Hildy Good, a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches, loves her wine and her secrets. Her compartmentalized life begins to unravel as she rekindles a romance with her old high-school flame, Frank Getchell, and becomes dangerously entwined in one person’s reckless behavior. Igniting long-buried emotions and family secrets, Hildy is propelled toward a reckoning with the one person she’s been avoiding for decades: herself.

Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline reunite for the third time onscreen, after 1993’s Dave and 1997’s The Ice Storm, to play Hildy and Frank, alongside Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, David Rasche, Rebecca Henderson Molly Brown, Beverly D’Angelo, Kelly AuCoin and Kathryn Erbe.

Directing are Maya Forbes and Wally Wolodarsky. They also co-wrote the script along with Thomas Bezucha.

The film is due to be released in the US on the 30th September, with a UK release date yet to be announced. Watch the trailer below:
