One of the Dark Knight’s most iconic stories is heading to a screen near you soon – here’s the trailer for The Long Halloween.

Whilst  we eagerly await Robert Pattinson’s turn as the Caped Crusader in 2022’s The Batman, we’ll be able to get our Batman fix sonner than that with the upcoming release of The Long Halloween, an animated adaptation of one of the most influential Batman stories ever told.

Its noir overtones and villain-laden plot certainly look like having been an influence on Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, but The Long Halloween has shaped many aspects of the Batman universe since its publication in 1996.

The animated film itself looks sumptuous, with the usual wonderful style of animation that we’ve come to expect from DC’s animation division. Also, the film looks to have stuck to the source material’s dark tone with the film’s second part receiving an R-rating in the US.

As per the synopsis, the plot follows ‘Batman and Harvey Dent as they work together to stop a war between two mob families as a mysterious serial killer targets members of both families on holidays. The influential whodunit thriller chronicles how Gotham went from a city controlled by rival organised crime dynasties to one overrun by costumed crazy types.’

You can catch your first glimpse of the film’s first part below, ahead of its release this summer.
