Mark your calendars for the terrific Tucked, that arrives in UK cinemas in the middle of this month.

Heading into cinemas on May 17th, from Bulldog Film Distribution, is the comedy drama Tucked.

Starring Derren Nesbitt and Jordan Stephens, it tells the story of an 80-year old drag queen, who forms a friendship with a younger drag queen. The pair of them face no shortage of personal challenges, and the film – from director Jamie Patterson – explores that. Early reviews for the film have been very positive, and it played at the recent BFI Flare Festival in London. And if you need a flavour of the movie, then a trailer for it has just been released.

It looks like this…

Here’s the full synopsis too…

TUCKED is a raw and tender drama about Jackie (Derren Nesbitt), an ageing 80 year old drag queen who forms an unlikely friendship with Faith (Jordan Stephens), a younger queen, both struggling with their own issues of gender identity & mortality. As they discover more about each other, they realise how to truly be themselves.

The film stars Derren Nesbitt, best known for Victim, Where Eagles Dare and popular TV series such as The Persuaders and The Return of the Saint offers a sympathetic portrayal as Jackie whilst Jordan Stephens (Star Wars: Rogue One), aka ‘Rizzle’, vocalist from Rizzle Kicks, plays Faith.  The film also features Sightseers’ Steve Oram (soon to be seen in TV’s Good Omens) and April Pearson (Tormented, TV’s Skins).

A charming, heart-warming tale of love, loss and friendship, Tucked  is a classic British ‘slice of life’ story that echoes works like Funny Cow, Kinky Boots, The Dresser and TV’s Benidorm.

The film is playing in limited cinemas upon its release, so may take a little seeking out. It’s worth it, though.
