Bad Boys 4 is reportedly put on pause, and Netflix opts again Will Smith for its upcoming blockbuster Fast And Loose.

Hard to believe it’s just a week since ‘the incidental’ at the Academy Awards, where Will Smith did what he did to Chris Rock, after Chris Rock said what he said. Over the weekend came the news that Will Smith had pre-empted an enquiry by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) by quitting the organisation. That’s not heading off much though, as now two films that Smith has been involved with have been affected too.

Firstly, Netflix – who worked with Smith on the film Bright – has put the brakes on Fast And Loose, a film it was set to make with the star. David Leitch had already withdrawn as director the week before the Oscars, but now Netflix has cooled on making the film with Will Smith, and will reportedly look to other personnel.

Separately, Bad Boys 4 had been in the works at Sony, and a script was well underway. That is now said to have had the brakes applied to it though, and whether it comes to life remains to be seen. The odds aren’t great at the moment though.

Smith does have one film he’s wrapped filming on, Emancipation, that he’d shot for Apple. No release date has been announced for that movie though. More as we hear it…
