Antonio Banderas joins the Uncharted movie, as it finally looks set to get going.

The movie of the videogame Uncharted has had more stop-starts than, well, us trying to play the videogame Uncharted. But finally, after going through around six different directors during its prolonged time in development hell, the movie is going ahead.

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are leading the ensemble for the film, which will be an origin story of sorts for the character of Nathan Drake. It’s now also been announced that joining them in the cast will be Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali.

Furthermore, it’s finally been confirmed that Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will be helming the movie.

Filming is set to begin over the next couple of months, ahead of the movie’s release on March 5th 2021. The final draft of the script has been penned by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Could this, then, finally be it? Could Uncharted actually be happening, after many false dawns? We’ll keep you posted – but it looks like it…
