Russell Crowe will be there to greet us when UK cinemas reopen, as his new thriller lands a late-July release date in the UK.

The film that’s been earmarked in the US as the first release when cinemas open is Unhinged, a movie starring Russell Crowe that’s arriving in America at the end of July (having been pushed back from July 10th). Now we learn that the UK distributor for the movie is Altitude, and it’s going to follow the lead of America, and make the film available when British multiplexes open their doors.

The film has been given a UK release date of July 31st (pushed back from the 17th), and it’s a psychological thriller that stars Crowe as a man who gets, well, a bit angry following a traffic incident. Caren Pistorious co-stars in the movie, which is penned by Carl Ellsworth and has been directed by Derrick Borte.

Here’s the new UK trailer for the film, to give you an idea of what’s in store…

And the synopsis reads…

UNHINGED takes an ordinary, everyday incident to its most terrifying conclusion in telling the story of a mother (Caren Pistorious SLOW WEST) who leans on her horn at the wrong time, to the wrong guy (Crowe).  ‘Road rage’ doesn’t begin to describe what he’s about to do to her and everyone she knows.

More as we hear it.
