There’s an exciting up-and-coming creative team behind the project Batshit, which looks like it might be one to watch.

It’s been announced that Universal has picked up the rights to Batshit, a spec script that is ‘described as an action-thriller about a new bounty app that encourages reckless behaviour, with the script being inspired by dangerous antics propagated and encouraged by social media across the globe.’

The project was reportedly picked up by the studio in a pre-emptive sale and it’s no surprise why Universal were quick to snatch it up. Along with tackling the topical subject of social media excesses and sporting that, erm, memorable title, the creative team announced so far are a promising bunch too. Up-and-coming writers Ryan Belenzon and Jeff Gelber are behind the project. The duo have already gained some buzz for their baseball Black List script The Rocket and recently adapted Nerves of Steel which has been picked up by Amazon.

Jon Silk, who produced It and White Boy Rick, among other films, is producing although no director has yet been announced. There’s definitely some potential here and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
